Fairfax Meadow invests in UK first catering butcher multi-site integration
In a UK first, leading catering butcher and foodservice specialist, Fairfax Meadow is connecting its multi-site operations through a major investment in real-time integration. The new innovative approach is designed to support the continued delivery of quality products to customers, taking full advantage of its facilities, spread across six UK locations.
Established in the 1970s from a small group of local butchers in North London, Fairfax Meadow has since grown to become the UK’s leading catering butcher. Its continual investment has seen it develop unrivalled, state-of-the-art production processes and facilities.
Currently, processing and delivering over 3,000 orders per day to a diverse range of customers, the new integrated solution, provided by food software specialist SI (Systems Integration), will provide the business with a real-time view of its entire operation.
An innovation-led game changer
For Tony Carlisle (Head of IT & Systems), the planning, development and implementation phases of the integration project have been equally important in delivering what will be an innovation-led game changer for the business: “Connecting all of our sites into one system that can give us real-time information, with enhanced visibility and control, is going to change the way the whole business operates.
“Throughout the initial phases of the project, we have worked collaboratively with the SI team to push the boundaries of what we could achieve. Their tacit knowledge of the industry has been particularly useful, as they understand multi-site operations and were therefore able to recognise the unique challenges we face as a business.
Further enhancements including improved systemised production planning and advanced industry leading traceability will also be rolled out through the implementation.”
“SI’s tacit knowledge of the industry has been particularly useful, as they understand multi-site operations and were able to recognise the unique challenges we face as a business.” Tony Carlisle, Head of IT & Systems, Fairfax Meadow.
Penny Tomlinson, Managing Director of Fairfax Meadow, explains “the aim of our ambitious integration project is to improve our overall business and meet our goals to deliver industry leading service to our customers.”
Delivering solution to future-proof the business
Commenting on the integration project with Fairfax Meadow, Rob Stephens, SI CEO said: “Fairfax Meadow has always been an innovator, growing to become the UK market leading catering butcher to the foodservice sector. Working with the team, we will deliver a flexible and dynamic real-time modular solution, that will future proof the business.
“No matter what changes Fairfax Meadow faces in the future, from new legislation, customer demands, the addition of new facilities or products, the business will be fully supported.
“We look forward to delivering this complex integration project over the next two years, working hand in hand with the Fairfax Meadow team. It is not just a game changer for them, it will take both our businesses to the next level of industry leadership in the catering butcher sector.”
The integration project is already underway, with the whole group expected to be fully integrated by 2021. For more information on food software solutions from SI visit www.sifoodsoftware.com
