At SI (Systems Integration), we really understand how abattoir operations work. Using our knowledge to develop our abattoir management software, it has become leader in its field.
In fact, in terms of beef kill, our software manages a high proportion of the beef kill in the UK market. We are also the largest abattoir software supplier within Scotland.
Abattoir software to manage every operational stage
From the moment the livestock arrives at the abattoir, SI abattoir software records every process pick-up point in real-time, including:
- scanning cattle passports and other documentation
- recording veterinary conditions and lairage details
- selection, weighing, queuing and grading.
- providing end-to-end and complete traceability.
And, as the level of tacit knowledge that’s required to operate our system is much lower than competitive software, the margin for operator error is minimised. By taking all the operational complexity and putting it into the software, we’ve made the process simple and efficient, whilst providing complete abattoir traceability.
Helping abattoirs to be more profitable
An abattoir will make more money if it has a greater understanding of its different livestock sources and can negotiate better prices.
All abattoir software should be able to manage the basics; buy animals, grade them, price them, pay the farmers and label the carcasses for traceability.
What sets SI’s food software apart is how our real-time data can improves an abattoir’s decision-making process. Therefore our software enables abattoirs to purchase animals more economically, process them more efficiently, and improve their profit margins.
With SI, by applying our reporting and analysis tools across the livestock supply chain, abattoirs can see the variation of the base price used and the price offsets for grade, no matter how many different farms an abattoir purchases from each year. This can subsequently reveal:
- which farmer produces the lowest cost animal at a specified grade
- the farmers that provided the best return, i.e. the ones that provided the best quality animals and lowest possible price
- which farmers produce better grades and poorer grade animals
- the farmers that provided the worst animal at the most expensive price
- Finally, which animals and from which farms had health problems
Through the use of our tracker systems, abattoir traceability data is available in seconds and visible throughout operational departments.
Integreater’s abattoir management software has been developed to manage every process.
Our Kill Schedule module enables profiles to be created that break the kill quantity down, by percentages and by specification and also creates weekly schedules based on the daily profiles.
Integreater also uses the Euro grid grading system and incorporates our own livestock payment system.
In conclusion, The only way to deliver automation in an abattoir, is to apply specialist software, delivered by experts who understand the environment it needs to operate within.
Amongst ERP providers it’s rare to find their technicians who have direct industry experience. That’s one of the big differences with SI; our technicians have direct experience of working within abattoirs, going back more than 26 years. How abattoir management works is not something we need to be told.
