Every carcass, every side – stock available to view in real-time
With stock hanging in the chiller, when an abattoir has our specialist software in place, every carcass is labelled. The spec ID details are maintained within our application.
At the grading station, weights were recorded barcode labels produced, unique to the animal. This barcode maintains traceability and will be scanned at every processing point. The carcass will be reweighed after it’s cut into forequarters, hindquarters and flank, each piece will be separately labelled.
With SI’s stock tracker software, the abattoir will have real-time visibility for the location of all carcasses or sides. This will include the chillers, weights, age.
Booking out carcass stock
Whenever a side or quarter is purchased, before it’s issued it travels over an overhead track scale. Here, the original label that was produced at the grading station, will be scanned into the carcass stock application.
If the abattoir has cut the meat in a different way, the application can do the following:
- Book all separate pieces.
- Identifies what’s left to sell.
- Recalculates the weight.
- Account for every action taken and provide the stock balance and automatically rebook the original product.
Then, using SI’s despatch scale application, the order will be entered, labels scanned, meat weighed and despatch note produced.
