SI Award St. Giles £2000 from SAMW
St Giles Hospice has received a £2,000 donation all the way from Scotland thanks to the support and gratitude of a Lichfield business.
Fradley Park-based Systems Integration Ltd (SI) nominated St Giles to receive a share of the proceeds from a charity ball held by the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW) at their 2019 annual conference in Glasgow.
The donation came after the hospice cared for the mother of Systems Integration Support Manager Mark Davis for three months earlier this year.
Systems Integration Ltd supplies software to the UK food processing industry and is a sponsor of the SAMW event, which features a raffle and charity auction with proceeds split between a number of national and local charities.
The company’s Business Development Manager John Graham said that St Giles was a charity that SI had always been happy to support through local fundraising initiatives.
“Their dedication and specialist support was witnessed first-hand recently when caring for a parent of one of our employees,” he added.
“As a long-standing supporter of the SAMW organisation and as a participant in their annual conference and charity auction we were delighted when the offer to support St Giles was extended to us.”
Samantha Nicolson, Corporate Fundraiser at St Giles Hospice, said: “We would like to thank both SI and the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers for their kind support of St Giles Hospice.
“We spend more than £10m each year caring for local people and their families living with a potentially incurable illness, and as little more than a third of this amount is funded by the Government the generosity of our corporate sponsors is vital in allowing us to continue providing our services.”
SAMW president, Andy McGowan said: “Thanks to the generosity of our members, guests and sponsors, we are delighted to be able to support the work of charitable organisations such as St Giles, which provides its clients and their families with such invaluable medical care and personal support during these challenging times.”
